Songs of Santa Fe

Here is a splattering of some of my songs about the Santa Fe area, including Eldorado and Lamy. Enjoy!

Here is “Chili Line” all about Lamy Junction’s Chili Line Brewing Company.

Can’t go to any restaurant in Santa Fe without hearing this question: Click here for “Red or Green?”

Here is “Down at the La Fonda,” in tribute to Bill and Bonnie Hearne. RIP sweet Bonnie! Bill and his trio still play at the La Fonda on Monday and Tuesday nights.

Here is “Oh Fair Old Santa Fe,” adding verses to the New Mexico state song, (Oh Fair New Mexico), about Santa Fe and Eldorado (where I live).

“Run Boys Run” is about the swift and agile teenage runners who carried the message from pueblo to pueblo on an roped agave stick to announce the day of the Pueblo Revolt in the 1680’s. Being a long distance runner back in the day, I think I would’ve volunteered to be on this mission.

Here is “In Eldorado” – about the unique people and interesting situations rising out of this bedroom community of Santa Fe.

Here I am singing “Club Car 1158” in the old club car of the Santa Fe Southern Railroad, which is based in Lamy.

Here is “Waitin’ on the Eastbound” – about Amtrak travelers waiting on their train, as I entertain them in the lobby of the depot! I work one day a week as a customer service contractor at the depot. Fun!

The name “Lamy” is actually based on Bishop Lamy who was very influential in the spiritual and physical development of Santa Fe back in the day. Here is his story.

To the tune of Baby Face, this little ditty, set in the early 1900’s, weaves the tale of a lonesome train traveler hoping to meet up with his crush, one of those “purty” Harvey Girls working at the old El Ortiz Harvey House in Lamy.

All over the Santa Fe area, ravens proudly hover overhead….or are they “just crows?” Find out the difference here. Above art piece is by Eldorado artist Jennie Cooley.

If you’ve ever lived in Eldorado, you already know the story of our packrats, those raskaly rude ole varmints!

Ok, so technically I am NOT an “Amtrak Station Agent”at the Lamy Depot, I am a “Customer Service Contractor” – but that title just does not flow poetically, plus Amtrak travelers still look to us as “agents.” So this tongue-in-cheek song is dedicated to Cindy Lu, the real “Station Agent Wo-Man” down at the depot!

Beep! Beep! It’s “The Little Old Lady from Eldorado!” Watch out! Actually I need to rewrite this as the Old Curmudgeon from Eldorado!

Welcome to Lamy Junction! Where “petticoats” are seldom worn but often remembered!

Now don’t get these 2 Lamy songs confused! “Galisteo Junction” was the original name for Lamy NM, which evolved into “Lamy Junction.” Here is a bit of history.

If you have been around Santa Fe for very long, you must have surely run into some of the numerous labyrinths around town, public ones in parks and churches, and private one as well. You can learn more about labyrinths around Santa Fe at Labyrinth Resource Group of which I am a part. This photo above is of the labyrinth at my home in Eldorado. And here is little ditty to remind myself of my intentions as I walk.
